About Us
Tecumseh Area Partnership, Inc. welcomes you to this special site dedicated to study, information and resources concerning the mature workforce. Maturity MattersTM originated with funding from the Retirement Research Foundation of Chicago, Illinois in 2004. That first investment focused on the mature and aging workforce (60 years+) in Cass, Fulton, Howard, Miami, Tipton and Wabash counties of Indiana. The purpose of the project was to better understand who the mature workforce was; what their retirement intentions and challenges were; and what employment, entrepreneurial and volunteer opportunities they were interested in and skilled to do. In 2006 additional funding was awarded to the expanded Indiana region of Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Cass, Fountain, Fulton, Howard, Miami, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Wabash, Warren and White counties. The WIRED (Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development) investment by the US Dept. of Labor and administered through Purdue University has also enabled expansion of the original project to include individuals 45 years and older. Current regional initiatives associated with Maturity MattersTM focus on the developing a Lifelong Learning System. The system includes a web-accessible database of learning opportunities targeted on development of needed regional skills. Seminars and training for employers, HR professionals and transitioning older workers are also being finalized. Individualized employer consulting services related to older worker employment issues is also on the horizon. Ultimately, these projects will increase educational and training attainment of mature workers and increase the number of employers that implement mature worker human capital best practices, thereby improving the overall economic well being of individuals and the region at large. All activities associated with Maturity MattersTM are managed by Tecumseh Area Partnership, Inc. (TAP, Inc.), Lafayette, Indiana .
