Aging Worker Initiative Services Now Available in West Central Indiana

The Aging Worker Initiative (AWI) is an innovative approach to expand services for seasoned workers (55 years +) in the West Central Indiana workforce region. The project is intended to address the workforce challenges facing mature workers in areas of talent development, training, employment and job retention. Efforts are focused on connecting older workers to jobs in high growth, high demand industries critical to the regional economy. The two specific purposes of the regional initiative are to match qualified older workers with good paying jobs and increase the value employers place on experienced older workers.

Aging Worker Specialists, specifically trained to work with individuals 55 and older are available in the Lafayette WorkOne Center and the Kokomo WorkOne Centers . The Specialists serve as case mangers for program participants. They coordinate appropriate assessments, training, education, workshops, affinity and networking groups as well as other special services available through the AWI program.
