About Us

The Lifelong Learning System (LLS) is a collaborative partnership among public and private sectors, educational and training institutions and individuals of the 14-county North Central Indiana Region. LLS will bridge the gap between individuals and employer needs by enhancing employability and economic opportunities in the region. Its goals are to make training and experiential learning desirable and affordable, and make training and educational resources more widely accessible.

We expect a broad variety of individuals and groups will benefit from the regional LLS including incumbent workers, mature and aging workers desiring to remain in or return to the workforce, unskilled and under-skilled workers, employers in the 14 county region postsecondary education and training providers and economic development agencies.

Our History

The LLS evolved from the WIRED (Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development) investment by the US Dept. of Labor in North Central Indiana. Building on an earlier mature and older worker initiative, a Lifelong Learning Taskforce of representatives from 14 counties provide guidance and volunteer leadership to the lifelong learning regional concept. The Lifelong Learning System model was developed from extensive surveys, interviews and discussions of workers, employers and educational resources in the area.

All activities associated with the LLS are managed by Tecumseh Area Partnership, Inc. (TAP, Inc.), Lafayette, Indiana. TAP, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization operating in the arena of workforce and economic development as a regional operator/broker/intermediary.
